Is body shaming the comedy of K'Town ?

Humour, one of the greatest emotions of human life; sometimes even a  lifeline to us. The world of the film plays a major role in conveying senses of humor and entertaining us. The impact of films in our lives is immersive. So, when a comedy scene happens in the film, it can influence viewers a lot. Vadivelu Sir's dialogues in our day-to-day life activities is a perfect example of this.

Recently, especially in Kollywood, films face negative reviews due to their comedy portions. Dikkiloona & Annabelle Sethupathi are some of the recent Tamil films that made our faces crumple with their body-shaming jokes masked up as humour. As flicks have a great influence on peoples' minds, children are also exposed to movies a lot. So, should children be taught that body-shaming is also humor; apart from humor body-shaming is fair?

Even though from earlier times, body shaming existed as a medium of humor from Goundamani's different type of 'Mandai'. It was just like a pickle in whole meal back then, but it has become the whole meal now. On one hand we tend to find films and film makers arguing for equality and on the other hand, comedy genre films are now making fun of someone's physical nature. Shouldn't body-shaming be avoided atleast in 2021 rather than following that for a maybe smile?
